SILENT GROVE-BELL GORGE

GIBB RIVER ROAD CONT.....
SILENT GROVE & BELL GORGE.
12TH July and another 125klms put us at Silent Grove just 19klms. on the north side of G.R.R. situated within the King Leopold Ranges Conservation Park. Again a small fee for camping, with flush toilets and hot/cold showers. Due to the many number of campers to use the

it seemed that if you didn’t get there early in the day (which is not on if you are exploring all day) no hot water available. So, we erected our portable shower tent with immersible pump and boiled the kettle on the open fire for our private showers. Rather good if I do say so myself. On arriving we again caught up with Bob & Trish. Next day a journey 10klms further inland to Bell Gorge where a 2klm return walk leads from the car park to a section of the creek just above the falls where there were spectacular views of the gorge & waterfall. The track down to the swimming area at the bottom of the falls was steep & rocky, but we made it and thoroughly enjoyed the swimming. The daytime temperatures were around the high 20’s but dropped when the sun went down to a min. of around 15degs.
Our new next door neighbours soon became friends along the way too. Shaun, Wendy and their 3 children were delightful.
After 2 nights it was time to move on again...

Next stop-Mt Barnett...
