JAN. 2011. BLOG #1.
No excuses again but it is time for me to get going with these blogs.
Of course it is raining today so a good opportunity and we haven’t seen any rain of late here in WA.
I will go back to our last stop which was Augusta before heading back to Perth for Christmas/New Year. We still had grandson, Kyle with us and also met some new lovely neighbours, Peter & Louise along with their son, Jackson from Freemantle. Really enjoyed their company and thankyou for the lovely farewell dinner the night before our departure on the 23rd Dec.
We decided to park up for the holidays at Camp Wattle Grove, a church & schools holiday camp at Wattle Grove east of Perth towards the hills. A lot trees, but they were very accommodating in getting us set, and thankyou Don for cutting those branches off for us. The weather was very hot, in the mid to high 30’s, but thankfully there was a swimming pool available.
Christmas day started off with breakfast at John’s house (Steve’s brother) at Canningvale. Well done boys on the bbq. As well as us we had Kim, Steve, Lance, Kyle, John and Tristan. Then it was on to Lance’s place for lunch. An enjoyable day was had by all. Although our rig was about 20mins. away we decided to pitch our tent in the backyard and stay the night. By about 1.00am. the wind had come up so bad that by 3.45am we decided to pack up and head for home. An hour later we were comfortably tucked back in our own bed.
Kim & Steve had come down from Geraldton towing their new boat so we had a couple of times out on the Swan River which was lovely. Lance took to skiing like a duck to water as did Kyle.
Another memorable time was our twilight cruise on "The Leeuwin" out of Freemantle harbour. Thankyou John for your kind gesture, much appreciated.
New Years Eve was celebrated at Lance's. Saw 2011 in up to 2.00am. Don't know where the night went. As Kyle had brought home from Fiji a mixture for kava, he proceeded to make up a brew which we all had to have some. I think, by the photos, that D'Arcy enjoyed it.
next post....
